New York University’s Bpe (business & Political Economics) Program…is It Good?
ByAlright. I’m a High School Sophomore and i’m trying to plan for college. My top 3 colleges are Stern, Wharton, and U Chicago. I’m very interested in the BPE Program at Stern but i have some questions.
1) Does it cost more? If so, how much
2) I’m interested in getting my MBA, can i get that with the BS Business & Political Science.
3) Can i do this program with the entrepreneurship specialization and even a minor.
4) I’m interested in Business and i love politics. I love investments (Stocks, bonds ect.) and my ultimate goal is to own an investment company, is there any electives or classes i can take relating to investing (stock market and that sort of thing). Yes i looked at the website (a lot) but it doesn’t anwser these questions. (at least not that i could find)

Ok. I can’t answer all of your questions because I’m not American, but I am an economics major so I should be able to help.
1) No idea
2) You can get an MBA with any degree imaginable, even something totally unrelated to business, such as english or biology. Most MBA programs will require you to have a minimum amount of job experience in the business world in order to get accepted. That, along with your marks, is what matters most, not your major. By the way, it is a fact that an economics degree prepares you very well for an MBA, often better than a plain old business degree.
3) I don’t see why not.
4) Your economics classes will help a lot in this aspect, but I would suggest that you also take some finance classes. Economics is where you will learn the theory behind the market, but finance is where you do the more hands on stuff, like making calculations about the potential future growth of various investments, and that sort of thing.
It sounds like a very interesting major, good luck!

I’m currently in BPE, so maybe I can help you:
1. It costs the same as majoring in anything else at Stern.
2. You should be able to get an MBA at some point in the future- that’s what I plan to do.
3. You can’t double major, but you can minor in anything outside of Stern.
4. You can take additional finance classes to learn more about investing.
